undrallu recipes vinayaka chavithi

Pappu undrallu is a tasty and tempting sweet dessert which is usually made for the festive season of Vinayak Chavithi. This is one of the three versions of the undrallu. The other two being
paala undrallu and nuvvula undrallu.

vinayaka undrallu recipes

Pappu undrallu is made with toor dal and jaggery. This is a healthy dish as we do not use sugar for the sweetening. I would say, this is a wholesome dish as it contains rice flour ( made with rice ), toor dal ( proteins ) and jaggery. Pappu undrallu or dal undrallu is a meal in itself.

Preparation

Prepare the undrallu ( rice flour balls ) from the undrallu recipe. Cook toor dal in a pressure cooker until soft. Mash the cooked toor dal and keep aside. Take ghee in a vessel and roast the dry fruits of your desire which you want to use in the dish. Keep aside.

In the same vessel, add cooked and mashed toor dal and mix.

Add grated jaggery.

If you are using unorganic jaggery, then melt it in another pan. Strain off the impurities if any and add the jaggery syrup to the toor dal. Here I am using organic jaggery and hence I am using as it is.  Mix well. When the jaggery melts completely, add the rice flour balls ( undrallu ).

Mix gently. Add grated coconut, cinnamon powder and cardamom powder.

Mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes. Finish off with adding the roasted dry fruits and your Naivedhyam ( Prasadam ) is ready.

Serve hot, warm or cold.
